The Great Illusion - 4 Steps to Recognize and Change Your Perceptions thus Changing Your Life

“Perception is not reality, it is just our tiny experience of reality, which is something that is very limited and flawed…” -Gavin Nascimento

Just like the game of telephone we played when we were kids, passing a message along a line of friends until it became so garbled it was positively laughable, so many of us are living this same kind of game out in our lives, except we're at the end of the line and believing the garbled statements as truth,

Today I want to dissect in this blog post how it is that we acquire these perceptions, the problems that can arise from living such a life, as well as sharing 4 steps to start the process of cleaning the lens from which you perceive your life.

We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are -Anais Nin

As we grow up through life we are like little sponges taking in everything around us. We witness how our parents responded to each other, or their struggles if we had a single parent. We witness how our teachers interact and treat us, how our friends are, and in our personal sphere of influence what it takes to be liked, successful and popular.

Through all of these things we create a “lens” of what is the safest, best way for us to show up in the world, even if it’s not who and how we originally desired or were intended to be.

No one is exempt from these perceptions, or lenses, but how deep, and how distorted these lenses are can vary based on each individual’s life experience. However, if this work is ignored, you will always find yourself chasing after illusions, functioning from a false sense of identity, and never really achieving true happiness. You may even find yourself inflicting pain on others based upon your perceptions of them and how you think they are acting versus witnessing their true intentions.

Even the Bible discusses this by stating:

“Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.” Proverbs 28:6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

It is made evident here that our own minds are capable of deception and can block us from understanding, and living out, our authentic purpose and witnessing the depths that life desires to provide us due to the way we think, we see, and show up in the world.

How we are to transform these perceptions, to trust, to walk in truth rather than deception?

1. Recognize you are not a victim to these perceptions. Take your power back.

This may sound contradictory but if you step into a place of sovereignty, if you recognize these weaknesses as a common, natural plight to everyone’s existence you can then take a more objective point of view. You can step outside the inner, narrow focused vision of how you personally see things and start to ask questions to truly understand the situation.

2. Become curious – it’s time we stop taking this so heavily. Don’t take this so seriously but look at this as a game of hide and seek. Start to ask questions, witness, laugh at what has occurred. You can view yourself as a constant project and problem, or as a puzzle just waiting to be solved. Ask if you are viewing a certain thought subjectively and why you may be viewing it that way. Ask if these perceptions are anchored in your body. If so where? Can it be released? It’s important to take a holistic approach to this as these perceptions hold energy, just as all thoughts do, and this energy becomes stored in your body and requires a physical approach to transform, just as much as they do a mental, spiritual approach. 3. Forgiveness – This plays into the second part. Don’t hate yourself for holding these perceptions; we all have them - forgive not only others for imposing them upon you, but yourself as well. Everyone was doing the best they could at the time based upon their own way of seeing and showing up in the world, now it’s up to you to shift that based upon what you now know. 4. Connection – This may be set at number four, but honestly it’s one of the pieces that tie this all in together.

2 Cor 5:7 states, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” - Having a deep sense of connection and trust with not only your intuition, but with a higher power to guide your intuition, to take on that higher understanding and vision, will help you witness more clearly the other points and bring it all together through knowing what to do, and having the trust/faith to follow through with action.

From the great words of Wayne Dyer, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”.

This is even imposed upon in science that when we observe a cell, the way it reacts shifts. It all comes down to perceiving our perceptions in love and higher understanding so that we can then shift not only how we show up and act in this world, but in return, how the world will then show up for us.

A great first step to recognize, and start shifting your perceptions, is through my free workbook Limitless Freedom However, if you desire to take this a step further, to not only witness these perceptions and shift them emotionally, but on a deep, cellular level combined with being held in love and wisdom while you embody the transformations that arise from these shifts I encourage you to sign up for my 90 day 1 on 1 program - Activate. **Together we will deepen your connection with your intuition and the Divine **Recognize, shift, forgive, and love all aspects of yourself across all dimensions and time. **Be supported 1 on 1 through any questions, struggles, obstacles that arise, along with being celebrated through all of your triumphs. **Embody and embrace who you were truly born to be in a strategic physical, emotional. and spiritual way, step by step.
